Commonly Asked Questions
Is there a minimum age to rent from you?
We try to work with clients who are actually twenty-five years and older due to our insurance coverage restrictions. Having said that, based on your situation, whenever possible, we strive to be flexible.
If you are below twenty-five, try contacting your insurer to find out if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, and then contact us.
Would you be able to accommodate adults with kids?
Indeed! Please note that with our rooftop campers you would need to climb a little ladder. If this sounds like a concern, we offer an additional tent with every package which you could put up on the ground beside your camping vehicle. This can be more convenient for you as well as your young ones.
What is the max. capacity of your trucks?
Our camper trucks sleep 3 individuals maximum, although if there are more within your party, we do provide an additional camping tent, too. With this, we are able to accommodate about 5 individuals. All of our trucks have 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Absolutely yes, our company offers both surfboards & boogie boards as well as fins on request for a small fee. Just tell us beforehand if you want to rent one, so that we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Do we receive a guide book or a map with the nicest areas to check out on Kauai?
Yes, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best places to check out and camp out on Kauai.
Kauai Camping Guide & Details About Camping Permits
Am I able to visit any beach front for camping?
You could drive up to any beach, however, you should only put up your camp in official camping sites. This is the typical practice here on Kauai. We will supply you with a list of the ideal locations to check out and to camp in. Please be aware that driving on the beaches is not allowed on Kauai.
Are we allowed to camp in the wild or can we only go to official camping grounds? If so, how much will it cost?
No, wild camping is not allowed on the island of Kauai. You can only go camping in specified areas with a valid camping permit. The fee is about $3 per night stay in the majority of Kauai county parks, though private campgrounds could be a little more. The good thing about these camping grounds is that you will have complete access to facilities, like restrooms, showers and picnic dining tables. Please be aware that if you opt to camp on the county campsites, you are only permitted to set up the ground tent.

Do we have to get Kauai camping permits before we arrive in Kauai?
It is a better to obtain your Kauai camping permits before your arrival. For the majority of private camping grounds, which we always recommend first, you may secure your permits online and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you decide to camp at a county campground and set up a ground tent, you can obtain permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” web page.
Up-front, the fees are $3 per night for nonresidents of Hawaii. Accepted payment methods with this particular application are money orders & cashier’s checks. However, it isn’t absolutely necessary to reserve your camping permits prior to your planned arrival. You could also get them at the different permit offices on the island, which is usually easier.
What is the processing time for getting camping permits?
No matter if you choose to camp at a state or private campsite, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to go to a county campground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite some time to obtain your permits. Permits can be bought at the permit offices on Kauai upon arrival; in-person permits are issued immediately.
